Senior Nutrition Program

  • The Nutrition Program is available to ALL seniors 60 years of age or older and their domestic partner, regardless of age.
  • The goals of the program are to promote a healthy lifestyle through good nutrition and assist in expanding social opportunities.
  • Participant contributions are requested to help cover the cost of the meal. The meals aren't free, but there is not a specific charge per meal either. Individuals are asked to contribute as generously as they can afford, as all contributions go directly back into the program.
  • Well balanced hot meals or salad options are available at all the meal sites.
  • Reservation 1 day in advanced are required for all meals.
  • No eligible person will be denied a meal based on inability to contribute toward the cost of the meal.

Types of Senior Meals:

Home-Delivered Meals:

  • For people who are unable to travel to a dining center, home-delivered meals are a good option.
  • A hot meal is brought right to the home and/or frozen meals can be provided on days when meals aren’t delivered.
  • Individuals must be homebound in order to receive home-delivered meals.
  • An underage spouse may be eligible for meals, if an assessment determines it is in the best interest for him/her to get a meal. A disabled adult residing at home with an eligible parent, who is also getting home-delivered meals, may also be eligible for home-delivered meals.

Senior Dining:

  • Enjoy a well-balanced meal in a casual, relaxed environment where you can make new friends, partake in activities, and listen to guest speakers.
  • Anyone aged 60+ is eligible, along with their domestic partner. A disabled adult is eligible if he/she resides at home with an eligible parent, who also participates in the senior meal program.
  • Senior dining sites are located in Durand, Pepin, Nelson, Buffalo City, Gilmanton and Mondovi. Serving days and times vary by location.

Carry Out Meals:

  • For people who would like to take their meal home and enjoy it.
  • A well balanced salad or hot meal is available daily for carry out.
  • Anyone aged 60+ is eligible, along with their domestic partner. A disabled adult is eligible if he/she resides at home with an eligible parent, who also participates in the senior meal program.
